Getting Started with Tikal Update Manager

Follow the simple steps described below to TUM-enable your Eclipse within several minutes(depending on your connection speed) OR you can download an already TUM Eclipse enabled at Tikal Eclipse download area

Step 1

The minimum requirement for using TUM is, naturally, the Eclipse platform version 3.2 and JDK5+, which you can download at Eclipse site download section

Begin the installation from the Eclipse Help menu item:

Help -> Software Updates -> Find and install

This screenshot show the screen as it initially comes up. In this case you will need to change the radio button to indicate that this is a new install.

This screen will vary depending on the features you have installed already. You want to click on the New Remote Site button.

When you first come back to this screen, the site you added will NOT be selected. Be sure to select it before clicking Finish.

This next screen shows all of the features that are available to install, Select "Platform" Category.

Click the button to accept the license agreement.

Eclipse needs to be restarted after installing TUM.

Finally, after restarting Eclipse, the first thing you will typically want to do is open the TUM where you can control your updates.
